John and Christine Wicks started the business in 1967 from scratch with a large shed and one vehicle. Now, the company comprises of two container warehouses, a self storage facility, 10 vehicles and over 20 members of staff. John is still actively involved in the day to day running of the business along with next generation Thomas who joined the company in 1995.

The steady expansion of the business since 1967 has seen many changes. John and Christine started Moovit Transport Services in 1967, a year later W.Harris of Chelmsford, established in the 1920's was acquired. In 1970 the company joined the British Association of Removers (BAR) and in 1989 W.Harris / Moovit joined Britannia Movers International enhancing the company's domestic and international business.

Britannia Movers is the UK's largest independent moving group, with over 50 members, over 1000 highly trained and experienced staff and a fleet of over 400 vehicles.

Our UK corporate and International Shipping division deal with thousands of removals each year both within the UK and all over the world.

2000 saw W.Harris / Moovit awarded the European Standards BS EN 12522 for excellence in removals - the first company in Essex to achieve this award.

The prestigious BSI kitemark followed in 2005, such qualification and membership status provides confidence that you are dealing with the UK's market leaders in removals.
